Delphi and The Sunshine Band

I made a suggestion to Nick Hodges to make this the official Delphi Song.

When reading the lyrics, you need to imagine the tune from the song “Get Down Tonight” by KC and The Sunshine Band then the following lyrics will make allot of sense to you. Its a great song for Karaoke night at CodeGear.

Get it Done Tonight

Delphi, Delphi let’s get together.
Honey, hon, me and you.
And Code the things that we like to Code.
Write a little code, do a little dance,
Get it done tonight.
Get it done tonight.
Write a little code, do a little dance, Get it done tonight.
Delphi, Delphi, I’ll meet you,
Same place, same time.
Where we can get together,
And write some code.
Write a little code, do a little dance,
Get it done tonight.
Get it done tonight.
Write a little code, do a little dance,
Get it done tonight.
Get it done tonight.

Write a little code, do a little dance,
Get it done tonight.
Get it done tonight.
Get it done, get it done, get it done, get it done tonight Delphi.
Get it done, get it done, get it done, get it done tonight Delphi.
Get it done, get it done, get it done, get it done tonight Delphi.
Etc.

Delphi has rhythm, its hip and happening.

Laurent Meyer - Delphi Warrior

I would like to recognize and commend Laurent Meyer of http://www.ea4d.com/ fame for he truly epitomizes the spirit of a Delphi Warrior.

He provides outstanding customer service, and works hard to resolve tech support issues quickly. He goes above and beyond the call of duty and he gladly goes the extra mile for his customers. His responses are clear, detailed, accurate, and complete. I wish all component vendors were more like him. I am happy to be his customer, and I am glad I purchased his components.

Laurent, kudos to you for your hard work with EA4D, especially version 3 - it really rocks. I thought version 2 was fast and a great performer, but version 3 blows it away hands down (Its so fast I had to check several times to make sure it actually was working). It's unbelievable! Your work is admired and greatly appreciated.

Check out his website, he may have something you need.

Jims is in and Ben is out!

I was a little surprised this morning reading the news about Ben Smith stepping down as CEO of CodeGear and Jim Douglas is now the new CEO. Apparently this has been in the works for sometime. It's amazing they were able to keep so tight lipped about this transition. There were no leaks about this that I am aware of. Good job with the security.

I've always thought that Borland's ultimate goal is to sell CodeGear, and their recent moves proves this. Give it a year or 2 and CodeGear will be back on the market and this time it will be sold. I've told many in my shop that the initial spin off was the beginning of the end for CodeGear. By spinning off the Tools Group, Borland could prove to potential buyers that CodeGear is worth the asking price.

That was the crux of the problem with the initial attempt to sell CodeGear. the financials were so intertwined that you could not tell where one began and the other ended. Borland could not prove what the tools group was really worth so they could not get what they thought was the true value for CodeGear.

Given Jim's past assignments, I believe there is little doubt about CodeGear being sold in the next few years.

If the right buyer can be found then this could be a brilliant move for CodeGear. if not, well then I might have to break down and buy me a copy of - dare I say it - no it can't be - Visual Studio. I am definitely not looking forward to that day.
